I've always been a fan of music! My sister introduced my to the Beatles, when I was 10 or so, and it instantly caught my attention. I think it was "Hey Jude" and the melody and harmonics really got to me. Like most people my age, I listened to grunge music and alternative rock like Nirvana, Bush, Alice in Chains and Silverchair. Besides the Beatles, mainly two bands changed my musical perspective. The american band, Counting Crows showed me a completely new level af musical depth. The vocals of Adam Duritz had a beautiful melancholic vibe to it and the band played superbly to support this feeling in the music. Especially the album "Recovering the Satellites" is a masterpiece. The other band is british prog rock act Marillion. When I first heard it I thought: "What the %&/# is this?!". I couldn't figure out, if it was brilliant or just strange. Now former vocalist, "Fish" sounded like nothing I've ever heard before and the music was very different from the grunge music I listened to at the time. Anyway, this band got me into the world of progressive rock and it is still to this day one of my all times favourites. Their classic album "Misplaced childhood" from 1986 is great!
I used to be a guitar player, but in the last few years I've been building a collection of classic analogue synths. The warmth and timbres of theese instruments can not be replicated by todays mainly digital synths, and don't EVER let anyone tell you otherwise!! Some of the worlds greatest synth players are: Vangelis, Jean M.J., Tony Banks (Genesis) and Mark Kelly (Marillion)!
